Blackbeard's Creations
The Captain's Bio
I've been working and playing in Renaissance faire's for over 20 years. I started off working Ale Stands at the Southern Renaissance Pleasure Faire in 1988, the first year it moved to San Bernardino. I ended up getting involved with some of the acting groups and then got into live steel fighting. It was this that got me working on leather as I needed to make armor, sword hangers & scabbards etc. During the next 10 years I continued to improve my craft, until 2002 I was taken on as an apprentice by master leather worker Don Humble (Thl Gaius Grachus in the SCA). This helped my technique tremendously, and I thank him profusely for the honor of teaching me.
In October of 2005 I earned the honor of master leatherworker from master Grachus.
I also do some background acting, and occasionaly supply leatherwork to movies as well. I did a couple pieces for the movie Blood Legend.
